Ritchey has just dropped a 50th Anniversary edition of the Swiss Cross
As part of the company’s ongoing 50th Anniversary celebrations, Ritchey has just released a special edition of its iconic Swiss Cross frameset.
The Swiss Cross – a longstanding mainstay of the US company’s range – is a cyclocross platform first built for Thomas Frischknecht in the 1990s, and piloted to multiple race wins since. Over the years it has evolved from a canti-equipped steel frame to its current iteration, still featuring Ritchey’s triple-butted Logic steel tubing but now updated for flat mount disc brakes and thru-axles.
With clearance for tyres up to 40 mm in width, it also acts as the company’s aggressive gravel bike, filling out the range alongside the popular Outback gravel/adventure bike.
Ritchey was established by Tom Ritchey in his parents’ Palo Alto, California garage 50 years ago, when he was just 15 years of age – and already a frame-building impresario. For the company’s big birthday, Ritchey has outlined plans to release four special edition framesets. A sky-blue Ritchey Road Logic arrived earlier this year, and a blue-faded Ritchey Outback was teased at Philly Bike Expo last month.
The anniversary-edition Swiss Cross features a lustrous red paintjob and branding that references the company’s origin story. It is available now from RitcheyLogic.com, local dealers and online retailers for US$1,699.
