Nicole Frain solos to Australian road race title
BUNINYONG, Australia (CT) – Nicole Frain (Roxsolt Liv SRAM) has won the Australian Nationals road race with a scorching last-minute attack in Buninyong.
Frain attacked from remnants of the peloton with roughly 3.5 km remaining in the 104.4 km race around Mt. Buninyong and managed to hold on for the biggest win of her career.
Moments later pre-race favourite Grace Brown (FDJ Nouvelle Aquitaine Futuroscope) led the rest of the bunch home for yet another silver medal, while first-year U23 rider Alyssa Polites (Sydney Uni Staminade) took third, and gold in the U23 race.
